I did not get that one at all...we need offensive guys that can also field a position (other than 3B's, we got too many of those)...

IMO, if they really like Flores, then they should have snuck a LFer's glove into Wright's locker and had Art Collins announce in a press conference that they were going to eventually talk to their "superstar" about moving to the OF for the good of the team...
Flores looked pretty decent at 3rd, as did Daniel Murphy; but then again we've been numbed by DW's rag arm & lack of range to his backhand for years where you know that if it's down the line, it is going to be no less than a single and hopefully not a single and a throwing error...

ouch...I think "Q" deserves a little more defensive respect than that...

Ike gets a "platoon" nod at 1st to begin the year...he's under contract, lets give him one more shot to redeem himself...even if eventually they can't trade him, and Duda/Flores "earns" the 1B job; if he gets his hitting shoes back on, he could at least fill a backup 1B/OFer role...
Duda gets sent to Vegas to "get ready to launch"; the duda is too big to worry more about walking than launching...Adam Dunn didn't earn his paychecks from the walks, he earned it from launching a lot of pitches over the fence...a Dunn that walks but doesn't launch is a dud...or is that a Dud-a; without the zippity...

trade for Jose Reyes?
Ok...dealing with what our realistic options are: A "Young" platoon: Eric Young Jr vs RHP; Chris Young vs LHP;
Speed is more of a weapon vs RHP, so that is when EY's speed is more effective; Chris Young has leadoff experience, speed, power and despite his overall average/OBP, he has generally done well vs LHP;
CHris Young carer splits: vs LHP: .363 OBP; .837 OPS; He's also had 1149 Plate Appearances as a leadoff hitter;

Well, they signed Q again, so expect to see more .220 hitting from the SS position. Hopefully Tejada proves 2013 was the aberration and 2012/2011 is what he's capable of doing. Unfortunately, he is not much of a player on the field, on the bases or with the bat, yet he's still preferable to my lefty hitting El Paso compatriot.
